January 22, 2013 2012 – Willemstad, Curaçao – Curaçao Technology Exchange N.V. (CTEX), announced today that the region’s largest telecommunications conference is now in its final stages of preparation. After CTEX successfully lobbied to move the conference, 74% of customers voted for Capacity Caribbean 2013 to move from Jamaica to Curaçao. The event will be held at the Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort on February 14th and 15th.

“Capacity Caribbean, the most important executive event for the Caribbean wholesale telecommunications community, is taking place in the dynamic market of Curaçao for the first time. The recent surge in market activity, liberalisation and new revenue opportunities available makes Curaçao an ideal market to host the 7th annual  event that is committed to bringing together some of the most influential executives from the Caribbean wholesale community. The event serves as an ideal platform to address some of the key industry challenges and opportunities, whilst allowing telecom executives to engage in business meetings with the regional and international wholesale community. With over 220 executives expected to attend, the event is firmly established as the meeting place for the Caribbean wholesale community,” says Rhian Collinson head of Conferences for Capacity Media located in the United Kingdom.

This year, C-level executives from Curaçao Technology Exchange (CTEX), Level 3 Communications and United Telecommunication Services (UTS) will host the event with a forward thinking discussions on innovation in the industry, whilst debating strategies to encourage development and growth in the Caribbean telecommunications sector. Anthony de Lima, Chairman & CEO of CTEX will open the event with an eye towards the future and the impact that technology will have in redefining the region’s future role in a globalized economy.

The event will also unite telecom operators with regulatory bodies and leading executives at Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post, Conatel Haiti and the Telecommunication Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) will debate with the audience best strategies for evolving regulatory policy. This year, for the first time, will also see senior-level executives from The World Bank and Intern-American Development Bank (IADB) provide an insight into upcoming telecommunication investment strategies, giving delegates the necessary information to develop their strategies for 2013.

Numerous event functions are always a large feature of Capacity Caribbean and this year among the various drinks receptions, platinum sponsor CTEX will be hosting an afternoon golf tournament at the Old Quarry Golf Course at Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort Curaçao, a course renowned for its stunning visuals. These social functions give delegates the opportunity to build on new relationships in the industry, vital for developing their businesses and growing the telecommunication sector in the Caribbean.
